Today, our son upon our request, willingly attempted to wipe his baby sister’s nose. She is sick, he’s never done this before. This is a happy little moment, a win. He took the tissue and smiled as he leant down and tried to dab her little wet nose, she was looking up at him wide eyed and in awe that he was actually touching her. She adores him and craves his attention, interaction, any of his time. So he tried to wipe her nose and both dad/me cheered!! YAY!! She smiled and got excited by our excitement. Repeating what he did verbally to him over and over, then we told him to put the tissue in the bin. He has this small skill thanks to his support worker, who has taught him to use the foot pedal bin and dispose of his own tissues .
He was happy looking at us cheering him, smiling almost with his big beautiful blue innocent eyes. We don’t know if he’ll do it again, but it was something. This was such a sweet moment after a week of sick children, runny noses and lots of rough sick feverish nights. Good job big brother!!
This is a happy little moment, a win.
